You can never get it back…you can only let it go

I titled this post after the most profound Grasshopper Takeover lyrics I’ve ever heard. And with a name like Grasshopper Takeover, you know they’ve got to have something interesting to say.

My wife and I took our boys walking downtown today. They’re so precious, and we live in a city where we can take them walking in any area we want and not have to worry about crime or most other dangers. We’re truly blessed to be raising our little family in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

We’re also blessed to have each other and the two most handsome little tow-headed boys ever. Walking along on a perfect July night with my 1 yr old Sparky holding my finger, life couldn’t get any better than this. Well, except if we’d set the camera on my wife’s new phone to something other than “grainy postage stamp” resolution first.

As for me, I’ll never have to get it back. I’m never gonna let it go.

An illustration of how we’re moving too fast, regardless of the direction

I made a little graphic to illustrate something I heard earlier today: President Obama spent six months picking out a dog for his kids, but wants to force us into socialized medicine by the end of this upcoming week. Hope™! Change™!

Rather than act like so-called “professional” journalists, I’ll document this a little bit:

Link: President Obama was looking for a dog in November.

Link: Bo the Dog shows up at the White House in April, six months later.

Bonus: Another broken promise, since Barack Obama promised to adopt a shelter dog.

Dog fans: Bo has his own WIkipedia page.

I’ve made it clear I’m against government-run health care. What they’re trying to do now isn’t even about health, care, it’s about control. But regardless of whether you agree or not, don’t you think we could take more time to overhaul one sixth of the US economy than it takes to select your kids’ pet?

If you agree, please download this full size graphic I made and pass it along (without modifying it, please). Let’s put the pressure on before we find ourselves stuck in a system that was forced upon us in haste and which none of us will want!

Congratulations to 94% of North Dakotans: you got a 70 cent per hour pay cut this week. (updated)

The news of a 70 cent per hour raise for workers earning minimum wage was the result of the clamoring of a fallacious argument that there are vast untold masses out there trying to support a family of six on $6.50 an hour. That argument has been made for decades and is totally dishonest. Take the photo above, for instance; it’s over two years old, but the McDonald’s on Main Avenue here in Bismarck was paying up to $8.00 per hour at a time when the minimum wage was in the six dollar range!

Take this quote from Job Service of ND employee Michael Ziesch, via KX News: “Most employers have already been paying above and well above min. wage esp. to retain qualified employees. Even in the job offers we see, that employers post with our agency, only about 6-percent of those offers, that include a wage, include a wage that is at or below minimum wage.”

So who makes up that six percent of North Dakota workers? According to Mr. Ziesch: “…most of the minimum wage jobs are held by the very youngest employees in the work force and some of the older employes in the work force.”

So, congratulations…those of you who are trying to support a family of six just got an effective 70 cent per hour pay cut, as the wage floor has been brought up. All in the spirit of making liberals somewhere feel good. Here’s why this is such a sad, sick joke (as are most liberal policies):

Suppose you are some poor guy who’s working a minimum wage job — maybe even two — to support a small family. You’ve got age and a little experience on your side, making you a more dependable and responsible employee than some teenage kid working his first job. It’s allowed you to work your way from $6.50/hr starting to $7.25/hr due to a series of incentive raises that you’ve earned for being a good employee. You’re not exactly “movin’ on up like George and Weezy,” but you’re advancing.

Next comes the latest federal feel-good program, the minimum wage increase. Now everybody is making what you are…including the 16 year old that sauntered in yesterday to apply for a job. In the mean time, the price of goods and services that you purchase for your family is going to go up to absorb the increased labor costs of the store from which you buy them. Effectively, you just got a pay cut.

According to that Job Service fella, 94% of North Dakotans are included in the pay cut group. These are the people who are not making minimum wage, or at least they were not prior to the jump to $7.50/hour. What if you make $9 or $10 per hour? You now effectively make $8.25 or $9.25. You went backwards because the bottom wage just came closer to what you earn.

When I’ve tried to make the argument against the idea of huge numbers of North Dakota employees making minimum wage, I have heard the argument that many of them are making “just above minimum wage” and don’t figure into the statistic. Guess what? Those are the people hardest hurt! If they were making $7.50 an hour last week, well above the minimum wage, they just got reset to zero. The minimum wage just went up, not everybody’s wage. Maybe they were making $8.00 an hour, not bad for entry level work. Now they’re barely above the minimum. For the 6% workers we’re told were “lifted up” by this increase, 94% of workers were brought down.

Let’s take a fictitious fast food restaurant, and call it BurgerBama. It pays most of its employees, high school kids who will likely leave after graduation, a minimum wage of $6.50/hour. Suddenly Congress, in its infinite wisdom, passes a law telling BurgerBama that it must pay its employees at least $7.50/hour. The cost per employee just went up by over a dollar an hour! How, you say? FICA and other taxes paid by the employer are based on the employee’s earnings, which just went up by 15%. By the time you factor in all the costs of having employees above and beyond their salaries, you’re looking at a potential 20% increase in the cost of having minimum wage employees.

Now, if your business doesn’t employ minimum wage earners, or at least many of them, you won’t feel this as seriously as others. In the case of retail or fast food work, however, the majority of the business’ labor base will be affected. That means the cost of those hopey-changey BurgerBama cheeseburgers has to go up by 20% just for their profit margin to remain equal! Thus the cost of goods and services will be increasing to absorb this humanitarian liberal hike in the minimum wage. That means that the increase never really had much effect; the people getting the 15% raise will be paying 15-20% more for the goods and services they need to buy with those wages.

This is how supposedly “compassion-driven” legislation works, folks. While I’m sure plenty of politicians are out there patting themselves on the back for “helping the little guy,” the vast majority of workers (especially in North Dakota) just got punched in the wallet. The question is: how many actually know it?

Socialized medicine drones working local phones…and some truths about “free health care”

This weekend I got a call from an activist pushing “health care reform” from phone number 701-255-2346. A few minutes of backtracking told me that it’s a personal residential number as well as the owner’s name and address, but I’m not going to post that information. In any case, the call went something like this:

Activist:
Some nonsensical blather about compassionate health care, complete with skewed ‘statistics’, then: “What do you think about health care in America?”

Me: I think that the people who claim they want “national health care” or “socialized medicine” or “health care for everyone” don’t want socialized medicine. They don’t want nationalized medicine. They want what we have RIGHT NOW, except they want it for free. And that’s not what they’re going to get if the government is put in charge of it!

Activist:
Oh, so you think that people who don’t have health care are lazy?

Me: No.

Activist: You don’t?

Me:
No. But you accuse me of making assumptions of people, but you are the one making assumptions about me.

Activist: So what do you think?

Me: I think I’m on a cell phone, I don’t know how you got this number, and I don’t want to waste my air time arguing with you. Have a nice day.

It’s always instructive to watch liberals engage in exactly the kind of behavior they attribute to, well, anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Here’s a guy who accuses me of stereotyping “poor people” (when that’s not the sole demographic of America’s uninsured) while blatantly stereotyping me. Simply because I don’t want government health care.

Then there’s the example of the rocket scientist whose window appears in the photo above. I drove past this house this weekend, saw an old couple in the yard, and saw the signs in the window. The two cars outside were smeared with all sorts of bumper stickers for Obama and state & local Democrat candidates. The sign in the window wants “Health Care for America NOW!” but I doubt the old codger has taken even an instant to think of what that means for him.

Look at these nations with “free” socialized/nationalized medicine such as Canada and the UK. They’re rationing care based on “merit”. Who decides the merit? The government, not the patient. That means people who engage in certain behaviors, have certain medical conditions, or are elderly have a good chance of being sent home from the clinic or hospital so someone more likely to have a better outcome can receive medical resources instead.

From the look of the guy who put these signs in his window, he’s past the prime age for any sort of nationalized health care. But obviously a habitual Democrat voter, despite their inability to make good on any promise they’ve made to any of the victim groups to which they pander every election cycle, he’s been brainwashed into toeing the party line. Right now the party line is government interference in health care, and he’s sold on it. The sad truth is, should it be implemented, he’s going to me among the first to be denied care when resources are short.

I knew a guy who went to a hospital in Canada. By the time the months went by and they decided to maybe treat his brain tumor, he was dead. I’ve heard Canadians implore the USA not to enact government health care because, “where will we Canadians go to get treated?” They also pass along their thanks, because we spend all the money to develop new medications, and then they get them for free while we bear the burden!

yes, that’s right: health care and medication costs fund research and development. We pay more for our medicine here because medicine is expensive to invent. Those costs must be recovered. Canada, however, has put into effect price controls on those medicines due to their national health care system. That means the USA must pay more for the same medicines; after all, the drug companies have to pay their bills.

If prices are “controlled” here in the USA, you can expect the research and develpment to STOP. It happened several years ago with the flu vaccine: the Clinton administration forced the prices down so low that companies quit making the vaccine! Then, when there was a breakout of the flu, there were no vaccines. They had to be imported, and there was a shortage. Expect a lot more of that.

Like I told that guy on the phone, people don’t want government health care. Even those who say they do actually want today’s health care system, with its innovation, convenience, and technology…but they want “the government” to provide it. That ain’t gonna happen.

Regardless of whatever sort of term you want to apply to it, government-run health care is a horrible idea. If people such as the guy calling from his home phone or the fella with his sticker collection and signs in his window would realize what’s going to happen… heck, what has happened when socialized medicine has been enacted, they’d change their minds. We don’t need to follow Canada’s or Europe’s horrible example.

Fight the insidious homosexual agenda’s advance in North Dakota

Yesterday I was unable to attend a committee hearing on Senate Bill 2278 (PDF), which seeks to add “sexual orientation” to the state’s anti-discrimination laws. It’s a sneaky “foot in the door” for the homosexual agenda, one which has to be stopped.

I would gladly have given testimony at the Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday, but couldn’t make it. I have, however, sent emails to my legislators. I urge you to do the same. It wouldn’t hurt to follow up with a phone call. The text of my email is below, and you can feel free to cut/paste relevant portions of it for your own email.

–Begin message–
I’m a constituent of District 30, and unfortunately was unable to attend the judicial committee meeting on SB 2278 this week. This is the bill to amend state law regarding discrimination by adding the term “sexual orientation”. I’m writing to voice my strong opposition to this bill. I have tried to find information on the status of this bill, but have been unable to do so. If it continues to the floor for a vote, I must urge you to vote NO on this bill, and to urge your fellow Representatives to do so as well.

Like those who founded our country, I’m a Christian. Because I believe the Bible, I believe that homosexuality and its variants are wrong. It’s my Constitutionally protected right to think so, and to exercise my beliefs freely. The people behind SB 2278 don’t agree with that; in fact, they want to legitimize their sinful act at the expense of the religious freedoms of others.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those wacky Westboro types that pickets funerals and the like. I actually joined the Patriot Guard to oppose those people. But I don’t appreciate having someone try to ram their sexual agenda down the throats of North Dakotans. I believe that homosexuality is an abomination according to the Bible, but so is ALL sin. That includes theft, adultery, lying, etc. Just because the physical manifestation of homosexuality is more offensive than the others doesn’t mean we’re singling it out. By the same token, we don’t have “thieves advocacy groups” pushing legislation trying to legitimize their sin, do we? There aren’t any “Liars’ Pride” parades that I know of. But there is a very strong pro-homosexual lobby; they seek to be legitimized by passing legislation guaranteeing that they get special status above other citizens, and that’s wrong.

One reason why legislation like this has been labeled “insidious” by legislators in other states such as Indiana which are evaluating “hate crimes” legislation is the “aid ,abet, or induce” part of it. If “sexual orientation” is added to this law, and a pastor preaches out of the Bible that homosexuality is wrong, these groups intend for the pastor to be prosecuted for any perceived “hate cimes” or “discrimination” against homosexuals by anyone who heard his sermon. They are not really interested in equal rights; their goal is to silence all opposition to their sin. They know that it is frowned upon by most Americans, so they wish to legislate the opposition into silence by fear of prosecution.

Case in point: my wife and I own a duplex. For years we have rented the other half of it to help make our house payment. We’ve rented to friends or acquaintances the whole time. If I wanted to list it as an available rental property, but declined to rent it to a homosexual couple because I don’t want this sin entering my home, the proponents of this bill would have me face legal penalty. My religious objections, guaranteed by the Free Exercise clause of the 1st Amendment as well as the section of ND state law that SB 2278 attempts to amend, would be irrelevant if these people had their way. I am not seeking legislation to hang Bible verses on the wall in their house; yet they are seeking the force of government to force me to allow their sin into mine.

People who chose homosexuality deserve no more protection under the law than the rest of us. They don’t want “equality” per se; if that was the case, they would not be trying to use the force of law to trump my freedom of religion. I believe that seemingly innocuous legislation like SB 2278 is the beginning of a slippery slope where the “rights” of people with deviant sexual practices take priority over the Constitutional freedoms guaranteed to all Americans. That’s the hidden agenda behind SB 2278, and the reason why I believe it deserves a resounding defeat.

Thank you for your time.

North Dakota Family Alliance, who fights the good fight while the rest of us neglect our duty to influence our government.

It’s time to get active, folks! Activist groups emboldened by their party’s success at the national level are going to be pushing their agendas harder than ever. It’s up to us to stop them. We have a form of government that only works if the people get involved in it. Our opposition has no problem getting their activists going; we need to do the same. If we don’t care enough to send an email or place a phone call, we get the government we deserve.

Hopey Changemas!

Sorry, Martin Luther King Jr.: you failed. It is with great regret that I note, on the day marking the remembrance of your life and accomplishments, that we’re about to inaugurate the antithesis of that famous speech back in August of 1963:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Had Barack Obama been judged by his character, he wouldn’t have made it out of Chicago. Well, the cult of personality, propped up by the house organ media, actually got this fella elected. Now we’re all going to have to deal with the result. This isn’t sour grapes, folks: this guy’s policies, and the agendas of the people who have surrounded him his entire life, spell the end of the United States of America if allowed to come to fruition.

Here’s your “change” by the way: an administration full of recycled Clinton administration hacks, many of whom are already caught up in scandal; avowed socialists, communists, terrorists, and other anti-American associates; and a President who has done nothing but run for office for the past few years. Well, he’s won it. Now what? Gun control, abortion, and the term “hate speech” to label anyone audacious enough to point out that homosexuality is wrong. That’s without even getting to the fiscal part of things!

Well, here comes all that Hope™ and Change™ that the vacuous masses of Obama voters wanted, despite the fact that few of them could summon a tangible idea of the policies embodied by those two buzz words. Who knows, maybe they’ll be too enthralled by American Idol to even notice the path down which an Obama presidency takes us.

My hope and prayer for President Obama is that he never gets anywhere near his socialist goals. I pray that once the real world sets in on Wednesday, and he actually has to commit to a policy decision, that he finds himself unable to go down the path he’s espoused throughout his short political career. I pray he’s able to keep our nation safe, and I certainly wish him no ill will, but I hope his policies die on the drawing board. With the help he’ll receive from the Legislative branch and the bedazzled mainstream media, however, I am have my doubts.

Do you like being able to select a doctor from among the finest in the nation, and not wait for months to see them? Well, here comes the change. Do you believe in the sanctity of life, even in the womb? Well, here comes the change. Do you believe in the right to own a gun to protect yourself and your family? Well, here comes the change. Do you strive to better yourself without having a union telling you what to do? Well, here comes the change. Do you believe in the right to speak freely about what the Bible says? Well, here comes the change. And do you enjoy the right to be able to cry out with the voice of political dissent? Well, here comes the change.

The Bible says we’re to abide by the government under which we live, and I certainly plan to do that. I also plan to continue to be involved in political matters, and implore everyone else to do so as well. As far as the Bible verse I would best love to apply (albeit out of context) to an Obama presidency, I suppose it would be Psalms 109, verse 8:

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Of course it’s only the days of his Presidency that I would like to be few, not “his days” of course. Be that as it may, we’ve got at least four years of trying to hang onto the freedoms we have left. Let’s stand up for what we believe in. In the mean time, have a sip of that crazy Kool-Aid and hang on. Hopey Changemas, everybody!

UPDATE: I’m fully prepared to be called a “racist” for disagreeing with President Obama, as they started that little game during the campaign. They sure set the tone early, however, as evidenced by the benediction “prayer” by Rev. Joseph Lowery: “Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around… when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen…”

In other words, if you’re white, you’re a bigot. Hope! Change!

Public Service Announcement: you probably missed it. I did. No worries.

Wednesday was National Ammo Day, apparently. I didn’t get the memo. I found it today somehow, probably from a link on the Say Anything blog. The idea was for everybody to go out and buy 100 rounds of ammunition, stimulate the economy, and send a message to the Obmanation and his merry band of gun-stealing twits.

I didn’t know about it Wednesday, but let’s just say that I’ve made up for it. There’s plenty of ammo in this family to go around, and there’s always room for more.

I have friends in other parts of the country that have told me of gun stores selling completely out of guns and ammunition once Obama got elected. He has a dismal record of anti-gun voting, and is putting people in his administration with similar views of firearm ownership. Socialist politicians like the Obamessiah love unarmed, uneducated peasants. As for me and my house, we’re going to be neither.

If I may change the subject for a second: that photo above was shot entirely handheld while sitting at my kitchen table, with a non-stabilized macro lens, and manual focus. I have not cropped it, rotated it, or manipulated it in any way except to size it down for the blog. The seven Hydra-Shox rounds I wanted to show are quite well aligned..WOW! I guess after 38,000 photos, I’m starting to develop a steady hand. After my last trip to the range, I’d say the same applies when wielding my Glock or whatever else I’ve brought. Practice pays off, whether you’re “shooting” a camera or shooting a gun.

Don’t worry that Wednesday passed you by; go out and get some ammunition! After January 20th, they’re likely to tax it, serialize it, or eventually ban it. I guess that’s the real public service announcement after all. You don’t need someone to name a holiday in order to get yourself prepared.

More proof that liberals are liberals first, above all else

In taking a firm stand not to put Sarah Palin on her show, Oprah just threw the “two” in “the ol’ one-two” punch to her credibility:

Punch One: Oprah declined to have Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on her show. Not the first black Supreme Court Justice in our nation’s history, but a qualified man who rose from impoverished roots. He’s a conservative. A Republican appointee. Oprah decided she was a liberal before a black person.

Punch Two: Oprah declined to have VP candidate Sarah Palin on her show. Not the first female VP candidate, mind you, but by far the most popular…a regular superstar, if you will. She’s a conservative. A Republican candidate. Oprah decided she was a liberal before a woman.

For a bunch that needs to “group-ify” everybody into factions in order to appropriately pander to, and make victims of, everyone they see…Oprah has just shown that her allegiance belongs to neither of the two most prominent demographics to which she belongs: black Americans and women.

Oh, there IS one group that which Oprah belongs to which she’s not afraid to put on her show: liberal millionaires. The list of them appearing on her show is quite long, and includes such prominent members as Barack Obama. So much for “the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates” eh?

Mandan Subaru dealership proudly promotes sin, sodomy in Bismarck-Mandan

I’ll have to recommend that if you’re looking for a new vehicle, look elsewhere than in Mandan. This weekend a queer* pride event was held north of Bismarck at Eagle Park. I did a Google search to see what was up with this “Pride Fest”, which is right by a friend’s house, and found this sponsorship announcement for a past event:

According to this page on one of the queer* activist websites,

Ressler Subaru will headline the Nov. 10 event as a major sponsor. “We are proud to support the GLBT community, especially through an event like Dakota Divas in Drag,” said Dot Frank, marketing director for Ressler Chevrolet-Subaru. “Subaru means unite and we hope that this event and our dealership do just that: provide a venue for people to socialize without hesitation, limitation or fear.”

In addition to underwriting the show, Ressler Subaru will present the all-new 2008 Tribeca at the event. Product literature and door prize items also will be featured as part of their display. “We’re fortunate that our manufacturer is favorable toward the GLBT community. Subaru of America has stepped up to help us sponsor this show,” commented Frank.

For that reason I recommend two things: First, that you not buy a vehicle from Ressler Chevrolet or Ressler Subaru. Second, I recommend against purchasing a Subaru altogether. These two companies are working together to actively promote sin in our community. If they’re so proud of themselves, I challenge Dave Ressler to order these plates for the vehicles on his lot:

Put this on the front and back of every new Subaru on the lot, and see how sales do. Homosexuality is a sin; the Bible clearly states so, and I suspect that the vast majority of this community would agree. Look how many Christian churches there are in Bismarck and Mandan. Regardless of their other denominational differences, most of them still claim to have their basis in the Bible. God’s word is very clear that homosexuality is an abomination to God.

Update: according to the April 2008 issue of City Magazine, the Ressler Chevrolet and Subaru dealerships were purchased by Bob Kupper, who’s also General Manager of the dealerships.

Here’s where I want to clarify something about homosexuality and sin. Homosexuality is not the only abomination the Bible talks about. There are others that all of us are probably guilty of at one time or another: lying, pride, mischief, theft, adultery…things that are not so disgusting to man in their physical manifestation, but are on equal footing with homosexuality in God’s eyes. Sin is sin, period. Lest any Christians out there start thinking they’re any better than the queers*, they’d better read their Bibles more closely. The Bible says that “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)…so don’t anyone start getting self-righteous.

Having said that, you don’t have Liars’ Pride weekend, Adulterers Cruises on the riverboat, or any Thieves’ Rights parades going on, do you? The whole “Gay Pride” isn’t just about sin, it’s about people defining themselves by, and reveling in, their sin. Look at Romans 1:22-32, for instance:

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

I can already sense the term “hate speech” coming up, and the lefties emailing me telling me how I’m so angry and hateful. No, this post isn’t about anger or hate; it’s not about me thinking I or any other Christian are better than any of the queers*. It’s about showing the truth about God’s word. You guys wanna have a “Pride Fest” and champion your sin, that’s your right. But don’t get all worked up when someone shows you out of the Bible that you’re dead wrong. My hope would be that these folks would read the Bible, see that they (like me, you, or any other person) need to be born again and turn from their sin. I’d love to see them get saved and meet ’em in heaven some day. How hateful is that?

*Don’t get on my case for using the term “queer”, either…until TV shows like “Queer as Folk” or “Queer Eye…” get new titles, or the Pride Fest folks stop calling their ride on the Lewis & Clark Riverboat the “Fruit Float.” I’m using their own terminology. And it is queer, after all.

NEWS ALERT – all wars have ended; someone held a concert

Apparently this is what a “concert for peace” look like. Pretty vacant, isn’t it? When I went to the park for the eagle statue pics (see previous post) I noticed some handmade signs declaring a “Free Concert for Peace” from 1:00 to 4:00 and a stage at the south end of the park. At this point they were about a half hour or so into the concert according to my watch, but it didn’t look like anything was really going on. So maybe they weren’t able to put a stop to war after all, really.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe that the peaceniks have every right to their feelgood events, bumper stickers, and PEACE signs in their yards. That’s what America is all about, and it’s their right of expression. I just think they’re horribly naive and have a tenuous grasp on reality, and that’s my right as well.

Let’s take Africa, for instance. Do you think the murdering thugs in Zimbabwe, Congo, or the Darfur region of Sudan care one iota what a bunch of pacifist liberals in the USA think? They’re already murdering, raping, dismembering, and torturing their own people. Feelgood liberal attempts at “dialoguing” with someone like that will have little result. Not only are the people subject to violent oppression worldwide oblivious to the choice of bumper stickers affixed to your Prius, they’re also unaffected by it.

Evil people understand only one thing: consequences for their actions. If all they have to fear is some finger-waving UN adviser or tie-dye wearing liberal peacenik, then there is no fear. Consequently, the violence goes on unhindered. All the concerts, awareness campaigns, and other such nonsense have zero effect outside the idealistic bubble that these folks have made for themselves.

I suppose this is the product of so much humanism, secular and otherwise. In order for a peacenik utopia to ever take form, there would have to be an inherent goodness in man. Guess what? It ain’t there. And if you remove that item from these folks’ ideological house of cards, the whole thing comes crashing down.

Well, I hope the folks at the concert had a good time. They sure had the right weather for it. I also hope nobody walked away with the illusion that this was actually “for peace.” Even if they persuaded a hundred people at a concert like this, it wouldn’t make a single difference; the only people whose hearts need to change are the murderous thugs all over this world, and you’re not going to do that with a guitar.
