Last week, Mandan Public Schools hosted an alumni day and open house at the high school. This may be have been the last opportunity for many to walk through and see the school where they made so many memories. I’m one of those people. As nostalgic and sentimental as I am, this was actually more a matter of curiosity.
The event started at 8:00, so I arrived promptly at 7:58. I worked my way around the building and took a lot of photos, and I’ll post them in batches. It didn’t take along for plenty of people to show up, way more than were expected from what I have heard, and it was a fantastic time for all.
There were donuts from Bearscat, so that’s a thing. I didn’t actually take one. There were also handouts listing milestones in the building’s history.
Most of the classrooms were locked, their contents packed in bins to be moved to the new school. But plenty were open, and it was fun to poke around. I used the opportunity to explore, particularly some places I never got to check out when I was a student. I’ll post photos from there, too.
These hallways seemed so much bigger way back then. It was really neat to roam around them again. It’ll be fun to share the photos with you. I won’t be giving a tour of the place; these will be interesting, unusual photos of my alma mater. I hope you’ll enjoy them!
I really enjoyed the photos as I couldn’t be there for the Class of 63 reunion. I miss the large windows in front. They made the halls so bright. I am sad that they plan to demolish the school. It was very new when I attended and it doesn’t look like it has changed much. Thanks
